I'm happy to see that editor Allan Kaster's new book, The Year's Top SF Short Novels is out in both Kindle format and as an audio book. My piece, "Several Items of Interest," is included. I'm reading the book on my Kindle now, and listening to it during my daily commute. It's really terrific and I'm proud to be included in such great company, with excellent stories by Stephen Baxter, Geoffrey Landis, Robert Reed, Steven Popkes, Alastair Reynods and David Moles. You can get the Kindle version here: http://www.amazon.com/Years-Top-Short-Novels-ebook/dp/B0068B47KY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321739425&sr=8-1 and you can get the audio version here: http://www.sffaudio.com/?p=34417&cpage=1

It's an interesting experience listening to your work in an audio version read by a professional. Editor Allan Kaster did give us all the chance to send along some hints on how to pronounce certain words (always a good idea when it's science fiction, eh?), but for the most part, of course, it's the actor's interpretation of the story, not yours, and that can take some getting used to. Happily, mine was read by Adam Epstein, who did a great job. I was really pleased. And I found it hugely interesting to me to see my own internal pictures of various characters changing as I listened to his interpretation.
