One of the more enjoyable things I do as a writer and teacher is serve as co-judge and administrator for the Dell Magazines Award for Undergraduate Excellence in Science Fiction and Fantasy Writing. The award was co-founded by myself and Sheila Williams, the Hugo-winning editor of Asimov's Science Fiction magazine, nearly twenty years ago. In that time many of the winners and runners-up and honorable mentions have gone on to became successful, even famous, science-fiction and/or fantasy writers. You can read more about the award here at www.dellaward.com or at the award's Facebook page.
